Felicitation Ceremony for Muslim Parliamentarians

The National Shoora Council (NSC) held a felicitation ceremony for all the Muslim MPs, irrespective of their political parties, who were elected to the Ninth Parliament through elections and through the National List, at Rosewood Ceylon, Dehiwala on Thursday 20th August 2020.

The event, chaired by the President of NSC, Alhaj Thariq Mahmud, was attended by several Muslim parliamentarians.

Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Hon. Rauff Hakeem, Leader of the All Ceylon Makkal Congress Hon. Rishad Bathiudeen and Hon. Hafiz Naseer Ahamed addressed the gathering.

They highlighted the Importance of preparing to overcome the challenges faced by The Muslim Community at this crucial juncture. They also thanked the National Shoora Council for inviting Muslim politicians on several previous occasions to discuss many important issues of the Muslim community. They also expressed their willingness to discuss issues of national importance and community concerns, in the future.

The Minister of Justice, Hon. Ali Sabri PC, conveyed his regrets for not being able to attend the event, due to an important meeting that was being held at the Presidential Secretariat, and conveyed his wishes for the success of the event.

Mr. Riza Yahiya, Vice President of NSC, spoke on the past activities carried out by the NSC Sub Committee for Political Affairs. He emphasized that NSC was a non-political, independent body that had maintained friendly relations with Muslim political representatives in the past, and that we should all work for the development and advancement of Sri Lanka as a nation which would in turn lead to the progress of the community. He also emphasized that it was important that we adopt a policy that is National Centric.

An eleven-point document on the work expected by NSC from Muslim MPs was also handed out during the event.

A detailed description of NSC’s objectives, past activities and future plans was also presented during the event. Many guests were invited, including representatives of member organizations of the National Shoora Council. Prominent personalities such as Prof. Rezvi Sheriff, intellectuals and social activists including President’s Counsel Zuhair, Al-Haj Hanif Yusuf attended the event.

In conclusion, the guests were hosted to dinner.

முஸ்லிம் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களுக்கான பாராட்டு விழா

தேர்தல் மூலமும் தேசியப்பட்டியல் வாயிலாகவும் ஒன்பதாம் பாராளுமன்றத்துக்கு தெரிவுசெய்யப்பட்ட அனைத்து முஸ்லிம் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களுக்குமான பாராட்டு விழா ஒன்றை தேசிய ஷூறா சபை கடந்த வியாழக்கிழமை(20.8.2020) அன்று தெஹிவலையில் நடாத்தியது.

சூரா சபையின் தலைவர் அல்ஹாஜ் தாரிக் மஹ்மூத் அவர்களது தலைமையில் இடம்பெற்ற அந்த நிகழ்வுக்கு பல முஸ்லிம் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்கள் வருகை தந்திருந்தனர்.

முஸ்லிம் காங்கிரஸ் தலைவர் ரவூப் ஹகீம், மக்கள் காங்கிரஸ் தலைவர் ரிஷாத் பதீயுதீன், ஹாபிஸ் நஸீர் அஹ்மத் ஆகியோர் கருத்துரைகளை நிகழ்த்தினர்.

தற்போதைய சூழ்நிலையில்முஸ்லிம் சமூகம் மிகவும் இக்கட்டான ஒரு காலகட்டத்தை கடந்து கொண்டிருப்பதாகவும் ஏற்பட்டிருக்கும் சவால்களுக்கு வெற்றிகரமாக முகம் கொடுப்பதற்கு நாம் எம்மைத் தயார்படுத்திக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்றும் அவர்கள் வலியுறுத்தியதுடன் தேசிய சூரா சபை இதற்கு முன்னர் பலதடவை முஸ்லிம் அரசியல்வாதிகளை அழைத்து முஸ்லிம் சமூகத்தின் மிக முக்கியமான விவகாரங்கள் தொடர்பாக கலந்தாலோசித்திருப்பதை தாம் நன்றிக் பெருக்கோடு ஞாபகப்படுத்துவதாகவும் தெரிவித்தனர்.எதிர்காலத்திலும் முஸ்லிம் சமூகத்தோடு தொடர்பான மற்றும் தேசிய முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்த விவகாரங்களை கலந்தாலோசிப்பதற்கு தாம் தயாராக இருப்பதாகவும் மேலும் தெரிவித்தனர்.

ஜனாதிபதி சட்டத்தரணி நீதியமைச்சர் அலீ சப்ரி அவர்கள் ஜனாதிபதி செயலகத்தில் நடைபெற்றுக்கொண்டிருந்த முக்கிய நிகழ்வொன்றில் கலந்துகொள்ளச் சென்றிருந்தமையால் தன்னால் வருகை தர முடியாத சூழ்நிலை ஏற்பட்டிருப்பதாகவும் நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு தனது வாழ்த்துக்களை தெரிவிப்பதாகவும் அறிவித்திருந்தார்.

தேசிய ஷூரா சபையின் உப தலைவர்களில் ஒருவரான ரீஸா யஹ்யா அவர்கள் ஷூரா சபையின் அரசியல்துறைக்கான உபகுழுவின் கடந்த கால செயல்பாடுகள் பற்றி உரை நிகழ்த்தினார்.தேசிய ஷூரா சபை அரசியல் சார்பற்ற சுதந்திரமான ஓர் அமைப்பு என்றும் கடந்த காலங்களில் அது முஸ்லிம் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களுடன் சிநேககபூர்வமான உறவைப் பேணி வந்திருப்பதாகவும் நாம் அனைவரும் இலங்கையை ஒரு தேசம் என்ற வகையில் முன்னிறுத்தி பாடுபட வேண்டும் என்றும் நாடு முன்னேறினால் தான் முஸ்லிம் சமூகமும் முன்னேறும் என்ற கோட்பாட்டில் எமது பார்வைகள் பொதுமைப்பட்டவையாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் அவர் வலியுறுத்தினார்.

முஸ்லிம் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களிடமிருந்து ஷூரா சபை எதிர்பார்க்கும் பணிகள் பற்றிய பதினொரு அம்சங்களைக் கொண்ட ஆவணம் ஒன்றும் நிகழ்வின் பொழுது கையளிக்கப்பட்டது.

மேலும் சூரா சபையின் குறிக்கோள்கள், கடந்த கால செயற்பாடுகள் ,எதிர்காலத் திட்டங்கள் பற்றிய விவரணப் படம் ஒன்றும் நிகழ்வின் போது காட்டப்பட்டது. தேசிய ஷூரா சபையின் உறுப்பு அமைப்புகளது பிரதிநிதிகள் உட்பட பேராசிரியர் ரிஷ்வி ஷரீப், ஜனாதிபதி சட்டத்தரணி ஸுஹைர்,ஹனீப் யூசுப் உள்ளிட்ட புத்திஜீவிகள் மற்றும் சமூக ஆர்வலர்கள் நலன்விரும்பிகள் என நிகழ்வுக்காக அழைக்கப்பட்ட பலரும் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.
