We are deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Dr. Rezvi Sheriff, who has returned to the mercy of Almighty Allah.
Professor Sheriff was the Founder of Western Hospital and a distinguished Sri Lankan academic and physician. He served with great dedication as Director of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, Senior Professor of Medicine, and Head of the Department of Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. He also held the position of Senior Professor at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and served at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka.
Beyond his exceptional professional accomplishments, he was a man of remarkable humility and grace. Known for his gentle disposition, depth of thought, and sincerity in relationships, he lived a life of quiet distinction serving others selflessly without seeking recognition.
His deep concern for society and future generations was reflected in his consistent emphasis on the transformative power of education.
Professor Sheriff was also a generous and committed supporter of the National Shura Council (NSC). His charitable contributions were often made discreetly, reflecting his sincerity and humility. We fondly remember his close association with the NSC, including a well-organized Ramadan fundraising gathering hosted at his residence.
What stood out most was his thoughtful nature seeking reward not only for himself but also for his family.
His contributions to the field of medicine are immeasurable. The care he extended to thousands of patients and the knowledge he imparted to generations of medical professionals will remain a lasting legacy. We pray that these noble deeds are accepted by Almighty Allah and weigh heavily in his scale of good deeds.
We also recall with respect his courage in standing for justice during challenging times, including his voice on matters affecting the Muslim community.
May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him the highest place in Paradise, and accept all his services as a form of lasting charity.
May Almighty Allah grant patience and strength to his family, loved ones, and all those whose lives he touched.

பேராசிரியர் டாக்டர் ரிஸ்வி ஷெரீஃப் அவர்கள் மறைவுற்ற செய்தி எங்களை ஆழ்ந்த துயரத்தில் ஆழ்த்தியுள்ளது. அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வின் அருளை நோக்கி திரும்பிச் சென்றுள்ளார்.
பேராசிரியர் ஷெரீஃப் அவர்கள் வெஸ்டர்ன் மருத்துவமனையின் நிறுவனர் மட்டுமன்றி, சிறந்த இலங்கை கல்வியாளர் மற்றும் மருத்துவராகவும் திகழ்ந்தார். அவர் மருத்துவ முதுநிலை நிறுவகத்தின் இயக்குநராகவும், கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழக மருத்துவ பீடத்தில் மருத்துவத்தின் மூத்த பேராசிரியராகவும், கிளினிக்கல் மெடிசின் துறையின் தலைவராகவும் அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் பணியாற்றினார். மேலும், ஜெனரல் சர் ஜான் கொத்தலாவல பாதுகாப்பு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் மூத்த பேராசிரியராகவும் பணியாற்றியதுடன், இலங்கை தேசிய மருத்துவமனையிலும் சேவை செய்துள்ளார்.
அவரது சிறப்பான தொழில்முறை சாதனைகளுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டு, அவர் மிகுந்த தாழ்மையும் நற்குணங்களும் கொண்ட மனிதராக இருந்தார். அவரது மென்மையான நடத்தை, ஆழ்ந்த சிந்தனை, உறவுகளில் நேர்மையான அணுகுமுறை ஆகியவற்றால் அறியப்பட்ட அவர், எந்தப் புகழையும் எதிர்பார்க்காமல், பிறருக்காக அமைதியாக அர்ப்பணித்து வாழ்ந்தார்.
சமூகத்திற்கும் எதிர்கால தலைமுறைகளிற்கும் அவர் கொண்டிருந்த ஆழ்ந்த அக்கறை, கல்வியின் மாற்றாற்றலை தொடர்ந்து வலியுறுத்தியதன் மூலம் வெளிப்பட்டது.
தேசிய ஷூரா கவுன்சிலின் உறுதியான ஆதரவாளராகவும் அவர் விளங்கினார். அவரது தர்மங்கள் எப்போதும் எளிமையாகவும் வெளிப்படுத்தாமலும் செய்யப்பட்டவை; இது அவரது நேர்மையையும் தாழ்மையையும் வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது. அவரது இல்லத்தில் நடைபெற்ற ரமழான் காலத்து நிதிசேகரிப்பு நிகழ்வை உட்பட, கவுன்சிலுடன் கொண்டிருந்த அவரது நெருங்கிய தொடர்புகளை நாம் பாசத்துடன் நினைவுகூர்கிறோம்.
அவரது சிந்தனை ஆழம் மிகுந்தது; அவர் தனக்காக மட்டுமன்றி, தனது குடும்பத்தாருக்காகவும் நற்கூலியை நாடியவர் என்பதே மிகவும் சிறப்பான அம்சமாகும்.
மருத்துவத் துறைக்கு அவர் செய்த பங்களிப்புகள் அளவிட முடியாதவை. ஆயிரக்கணக்கான நோயாளிகளுக்கு அவர் வழங்கிய சிகிச்சையும், பல தலைமுறை மருத்துவர்களுக்கு அவர் வழங்கிய அறிவும் நிலையான பாரம்பரியமாகத் தொடரும். இந்நல்ல செயல்கள் அனைத்தும் அல்லாஹ்வால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டு, அவரது நற்செயல் தராசில் மிகுந்த பாரமாக அமைய வேண்டும் என்று நாம் பிரார்த்திக்கிறோம்.
சவாலான காலங்களிலும், குறிப்பாக முஸ்லிம் சமூகத்தைச் சார்ந்த விடயங்களில், நீதிக்காக அவர் எடுத்த துணிச்சலான நிலைப்பாட்டையும் நாம் மரியாதையுடன் நினைவுகூருகிறோம்.
அல்லாஹ் அவர்களின் குறைகளை மன்னித்து, சொர்க்கத்தில் உயர்ந்த இடத்தை வழங்கி, அவர் செய்த சேவைகள் அனைத்தையும் நிலையான சதகா ஜாரியாக ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டுமென வேண்டுகிறோம்.
அவரது குடும்பத்தினருக்கும், அன்புக்குரியவர்களுக்கும் பொறுமையும் வலிமையும் அருள்புரிவானாக.
